Why is my IP location wrong?

IP location is an estimate for a network exit, not your device’s precise position. A VPN, mobile gateway, ISP routing change or outdated database can make the reported city different from where you are.

How should you interpret it?

Country and city records can have different accuracy. Timezone and browser language are independent settings and do not prove the database wrong. The map is an approximate IP location, not a street address.

Steps

  1. Check whether a VPN or proxy changes your public IP.
  2. Record the current public IP and compare the country, ASN and approximate city.
  3. If the mismatch persists, contact your ISP or the relevant location database through its own documented channel.

FAQ

Can Ping123 determine my exact address from this result?

No. An IP-level city estimate must not be treated as a precise device location.

Modern home, IP risk, privacy and latency pages start a shared session automatically, including external DNS and STUN connections. Direct entry to tools, method or policy pages does not start a session; an existing session may continue. Old language homepages show an IP profile and use separate buttons for extra browser checks.
